Huntsman Corp. will increase capacity by at least 15 percent for specialty polyetheramine (PEA) specialty resins at three sites worldwide.

Huntsman — based in The Woodlands, Texas — will boost capacity via debottlenecking at plants in Conroe, Texas; Llanelli, Wales; and Singapore, officials said in a Jan. 23 news release. The capacity additions are expected to be completed by May.

PEA resins improve the performance of epoxy systems that are used in industrial and decorative coatings, as well as in sports equipment such as tennis racquets, skis and hockey sticks. PEA resins are part of Huntsman's Performance Products unit.

Huntsman employs about 12,000 worldwide and posted sales of more than $11 billion in 2012. The firm is a major producer of polyurethanes, epoxy and other specialty materials.
